Reading note

The cry as prayer

In many Rumi stories and lyrics, longing is not the absence of prayer. It is already a form of prayer. The ache that asks for the Beloved may itself be evidence of nearness.

Why return to it

For days when prayer feels incomplete, this thought is kind: even the cry for the door may belong to the opening.
