Meera
A poem of being dyed in love — devotion as color that cannot be washed out.
Why return to it: Meera uses color as surrender: to love is to be changed visibly and permanently.
Included here: Hindi in Devanagari, English transliteration, Urdu, and an English translation for easier access across scripts and readers.

English Transliteration
Main to sā̃ware ke raṅg rā̃chī. Sāj-siṅgār bā̃dh pag ghunghrū, lok-lāj taj nāchī. Gaī kumati, laī sādh saṅgati, bhakti rūp ras chākhī. Mīrā ke prabhu Giridhar Nāgar, Hari charanan chit rākhī.
English Translation
I am dyed in the color of the dark beloved; no other color will take now. I tied on anklets, left the world's shame behind, and let devotion teach my feet to dance. Falsehood fell away; among seekers I tasted the nectar I had longed for. Meera keeps her mind at Hari's feet, where Giridhar's color never fades.
