बुंदेले हरबोलों के मुँह हमने सुनी कहानी थी, खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झाँसी वाली रानी थी। सिंहासन हिल उठे, राजवंशों ने भृकुटी तानी थी, बूढ़े भारत में भी आई फिर से नई जवानी थी।
English transliteration
Bundele harbolon ke muñh hamne sunī kahānī thī, Khūb laṛī mardānī, vah to Jhāñsī vālī Rānī thī. Siñhāsan hil uṭhe, rājvañśon ne bhṛkuṭī tānī thī, Būṛhe Bhārat meñ bhī āī phir se naī javānī thī.

بُندیلے ہربولوں کے مُنہ ہم نے سنی کہانی تھی خوب لڑی مردانی، وہ تو جھانسی والی رانی تھی سنگھاسن ہل اٹھے، راج ونشوں نے بھروکٹی تانی تھی بوڑھے بھارت میں بھی آئی پھر سے نئی جوانی تھی
Poetic English rendering
We heard the tale from Bundela singers: she fought with a courage that startled an age — she was the queen of Jhansi. Thrones trembled, dynasties frowned; and in an old land, youth returned like flame.
