Kabir

Guru Govind Dou Khaṛe

A beloved couplet on gratitude: the teacher is honored as the one who reveals the divine.

Why return to it: Kabir’s reverence here is practical — the guide matters because they make seeing possible.

Included here: Hindi in Devanagari, English transliteration, Urdu, and an English translation for easier access across scripts and readers.

Hindi · Devanagari

गुरु गोविंद दोउ खड़े

गुरु गोविंद दोउ खड़े, काके लागूँ पाय। बलिहारी गुरु आपने, गोविंद दियो बताय॥

If Guru and Govind stood together before me, whose feet would I touch first? I would bow first to the Guru, for it was the Guru who opened my eyes to Govind.
